Haeundae is Busan’s signature beach. A wide sweep of sand, about 1.5 km long, sits right in front of a wall of high-rises, making a striking meeting of city and sea. It is busy with swimmers in summer and with walkers watching the waves all year round.
Around the beach
- Dongbaekseom — a small island at the western end with a walking path around its rocky shore.
- Haeundae seaside rail trail — an old railway line turned coastal walk, from Mipo toward Cheongsapo and Songjeong. Cheongsapo’s red and white lighthouses are a favorite photo stop.
- Haeundae Market — try Busan street food a few blocks from the sand.
Make it a Busan trip
Korea’s second city and biggest port is an easy weekend from Seoul: the KTX high-speed train takes about 2.5 hours. From Haeundae, subways and buses connect to Gwangalli Beach, the seaside temple Haedong Yonggungsa, the hillside Gamcheon Culture Village and Jagalchi Fish Market.
