💡 Good to know
  • NANTA, a non-verbal kitchen comedy running since 1997, needs no Korean at all.
  • Book through official ticketing sites, and look for an English booking page.
  • Some theaters offer English subtitles for musicals on selected dates.

If you have a free evening, a show is a great way to experience Korean creativity.

Non-verbal shows

  • NANTA (난타) — chefs drum on pots, pans and cutting boards in a fast, funny kitchen story. Running since 1997, it needs almost no words at all.
  • Other non-verbal performances combine martial arts, dance and comedy and are designed for international audiences.

Traditional shows and musicals

Traditional dance and music are performed at the National Gugak Center, at Namsangol Hanok Village, and at palaces during festivals. Seoul also has a lively musical theater scene, with both Korean originals and Broadway or West End productions.
