📷 Photo tips
  • The palace corridors and Gyeonghoeru Pavilion make the colors of a hanbok pop.

Hanbok is Korea’s traditional clothing. These days it’s not just visitors — young Koreans love renting hanbok too, strolling through palaces and hanok villages and taking photos. A big bonus: wearing hanbok gets you into Seoul’s royal palaces free of charge.

How to do it

Rental shops around Gyeongbokgung, Bukchon and Insadong let you choose an outfit and accessories and rent them for a few hours; many will also style your hair. Then walk Gyeongbokgung → Bukchon Hanok Village → Samcheong-dong for a perfect day.

Good to know

Each palace closes one day a week, so check before you go. You’ll walk a lot — comfortable shoes under the skirt are fine.
