A jjimjilbang combines a public bath, saunas at different temperatures and big shared lounges. People sweat it out in the hot rooms, lie on the warm floors, snack and chat — families often spend half a day here.
How it works
- Put your shoes in a locker and get your key.
- Wash in the bathing area, which is separated by gender (no swimsuits — everyone bathes nude).
- Put on the T-shirt and shorts provided and head to the shared area to try the clay room, salt room, ice room and more.
Don’t miss
Cold sikhye (a sweet rice drink) and baked eggs are the classic snacks. Roll your towel into a “sheep head” (yangmeori) hat and take a photo. It’s especially cozy in winter.
