Hongdae
The area around Hongik University is known for art and indie music. In the evening, buskers and dance crews perform on the streets, and the side streets fill with small live music clubs, bars, karaoke rooms and casual restaurants. Get off at Hongik University Station (Line 2, AREX and the Gyeongui-Jungang Line).
Yeonnam-dong and the Gyeongui Line Forest Park
Just north of the station, an old railway line has been turned into a long, narrow park — the Gyeongui Line Forest Park. Locals jokingly call the Yeonnam-dong stretch “Yeontral Park”, after New York’s Central Park. Along its lawns and paths, the side streets are full of small cafes, restaurants and little shops waiting to be discovered.
