Seomun Market has been Daegu’s main market since the Joseon era. Daegu is a textile city, so you’ll find whole sections of fabric, bedding and hanbok shops — and plenty of food lanes in between.
What to eat
- Napjak-mandu (납작만두) — Daegu’s signature flat dumplings with a thin wrapper and a little glass noodle and chive filling, pan-fried and topped with soy sauce, chili flakes and green onion.
- Kalguksu and kaljebi — knife-cut noodles, or a mix of noodles and hand-torn dough, the market’s go-to lunch.
The night market
In the evening a night market sets up along the street by the market, with all kinds of street food. Get there on Daegu Metro Line 3, a monorail that glides above the city — the ride is part of the fun.
