Damyang has long been known as Korea’s bamboo town, and Juknokwon is its signature bamboo forest park. A network of trails runs between the tall green stems, so you can walk in cool shade even on the hottest summer day.
Walking the forest
Each path has its own name and theme. Take it slowly and listen — when the wind picks up, the rustling leaves sound like the sea.
Nearby
A short drive away are the famous Metasequoia-lined road and Soswaewon, a classic Joseon-era garden. Before you leave, try Damyang’s tteokgalbi (grilled short-rib patties) and daetongbap, rice steamed inside a bamboo stem.
