Dodamsambong is a trio of rocky peaks standing in the middle of the Namhangang River. A small pavilion sits on the tallest one, so it looks as if it is floating on the water. Legend says the Joseon scholar Jeong Do-jeon loved this place so much that he took “Sambong” as his pen name.
When to go
On autumn and winter mornings, when the nights are cold and the days are mild, mist rises from the river — the most magical time to visit. Try to be there as the sunrise turns the mist pink.
Nearby
A short walk along the river brings you to Seongmun, a rainbow-shaped natural stone arch. In town, the Mancheonha Skywalk viewpoint and Gugyeong Market are worth a stop.
