💡 Good to know
  • Yeouido and Banpo are the easiest parks for first-time visitors.
  • In the warmer months, the Moonlight Rainbow Fountain runs on Banpo Bridge.
  • Rent a Seoul public bike (Ttareungyi) with the app and ride along the river.
📷 Photo tips
  • Wait for the moment at dusk when the skyline lights come on across the water.

The Han River is more than a kilometer wide in places, and both banks are lined with parks, bike paths and open lawns. On warm evenings, Seoulites come here to picnic, jog, cycle and watch the city lights.

Good places to start

  • Yeouido Hangang Park — right outside Yeouinaru Station (Line 5), famous for cherry blossoms in spring. Evening river cruises leave from here.
  • Banpo Hangang Park — home to the Moonlight Rainbow Fountain, which sprays colorful water from the side of Banpo Bridge in the warmer months.

Do it the Seoul way

Spread a mat by the water, order fried chicken for delivery to the park (yes, really) and enjoy chimaek — chicken and beer — with the skyline. Cooking instant ramyeon at a riverside convenience store is another favorite.
